MISSION

The church aims to have outreach and mission at the heart of what it does, and we seek to serve people practically and share the hope that can be found in Jesus.

We currently have the following outreach ministries:

SPEAR RESURGO

St Mark’s is working in partnership with Resurgo Spear, a charity working with young people aged 16-24 who need support to get into work or further training.

Spear has 8 centres across London, one of which runs from St Mark’s church.

The team work with groups of young people running 6 week courses which prepare them for employment. They learn about CV writing, interview technique, and attitude and behaviour required by employers. If you or someone you know would like to attend the course, contact the church office.

CAP (CHRISTIANS AGAINST POVERTY)

St Mark’s are in partnership with the national money charity Christians Against Poverty in two ways- we run a debt centre serving local people struggling with debt and the CAP Money Course, giving people guidance on managing their money.

Our CAP Debt Centre opened in April 2013. The team is led by our debt centre manager, Cherie Thomas and she is supported by a team of volunteers.

The service is for anyone, not just Christians and is completely free.

STREET PASTORS

A number of our congregation work with Street Pastors in South London to offer practical and emotional support to people out and about in our area on a Friday and Saturday night.

COMMUNITY LUNCH

The church puts on regular lunches for everyone within our area – come and join us every 3rd Wednesday of the month at a new location. See our events page for further details nearer the date.

FOOD BANK

Many members of St Mark’s make weekly donations by bringing non-perishable items to church which are then given to the Vauxhall Food Bank. They sort and distribute the items to people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet and need some support with gifts of food.
