Giving to good causes
We give a tithe (around a tenth) of our income to mission organisations
and established charities such as Tearfund, Christian Aid and the Barnabas Fund.
We have a Missions Giving Committee that allocates our church giving. If you have a
suggestion for a good cause please email the church administrator.
Giving...it's easy
'Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.'
Matthew 6:21
(New Living Translation)
We depend on regular giving by church members to sustain our day-to-day ministry, our work in the community and our giving to charitable and mission groups. It costs St Mark's approximately £5000 a week to maintain our work (see breakdown below).
If you use Gift Aid, St Mark's can benefit from an additional 28% tax rebate at no extra cost to you!
We encourage all church members to to set aside a proportion of their income for giving to St Mark's, and to give regularly (monthly or weekly). Our preferred methods of regular giving are, in order of preference:
- Standing Order: as this minimises the need for us to handle cash. Forms available in church, or fill in the form on this page (below right).
- Gift-Aid Envelopes: Our church administrator can give you a pack of envelopes.
- The Offering: taken during both Sunday services.
- GAYE (Give As You Earn, payroll giving): please contact your HR department for more details
- CAF (Charities Aid Foundation): For this type of giving it is the giver and not the church who receives the tax back (in other words your gift will not be grossed up). More details...
- Credit/ Debit Card: through the secure JustGiving website (details below).
We also welcome one-off and occasional gifts by the following methods (let us know if you are a UK taxpayer):
- Cheque: payable to 'St Mark's PCC'. Cheques can be posted to the church office: 58 Kennington Oval, London SE11 5SW.
- Legacy/Will: please speak to the Church administrator, Ray
